The Safety of Chiropractic Care
|
Recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available, chiropractic is widely accepted for treating back pain, various joint pains, neck pain, headaches, vertigo, and many other neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Chiropractic care has an excellent safety record, but there are a few considerations to keep in mind. All said and done, the non-invasive style and drug-free approach of chiropractic treatment makes it one of the safest options to tackle various health issues.
Basically, the risk associated with chiropractic care is very minimal. Many patients actually feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment; but sometimes there is mild soreness or aching, similar to what you feel after performing some types of movement/exercise that your muscles aren't used to. Your chiropractor will determine your future course of treatment based on how you feel after a typical visit. This will keep your treatment plan virtually pain-free, comfortable and safe.

Managing Chropractic Pain With Chiropractic Care
|
Pain that persists beyond a typical time frame and doesn't respond typically to normal treatments/techniques is considered to be "Chronic Pain." Many times chiropractors can successfully treat chronic pain. Non-surgical and drug-free treatments such as spinal manipulation, therapeutic massage and intricate hands-on or extensive machine-aided manipulations are often used to help in chronic pain cases. These techniques will help with issues such as muscle tension, inflammation and improper alignment in order to address chronic pain symptoms.
While some chronic pain may never go away, working with your chiropractor to develop a treatment plan specific to your pain and issues will help obtain the best results in alleviating at least some, if not most of your pain. As your pain decreases, you will be able to gradually return to your normal daily activities.
As with any treatment, any possible risk, however slight, should not be ignored. This is why it is important for your chiropractor to constantly evaluate your pain, and any changes you experience during your treatment. Remember that every case is different and your chiropractor is working specifically with you and your chronic pain. What works for one person may not work for another, so listen to what your chiropractor tells you regarding your care and be sure to let your chiropractor know how you feel (good or bad).

How Safe is Chiropractic Care?
|
It is important that you are very specific and honest about your symptoms and pain when visiting your chiropractor. If you have any concerns regarding your treatment and the effects it could have on your current health, please do not hesitate to discuss it with your chiropractor. Your treatment schedule will be based upon your health condition, any fears you may have and what you feel most comfortable with. Remember, a chiropractor isn't just someone who does back/spine manipulations. There are various forms of treatment, including soft-tissue techniques, joint mobilization and manipulation, manipulations with various chiropractic devices & machines and much more!
Chiropractic can also be used as a complementary mode of care with other physicians, therapists, and even homeopathic counseling. Depending on your particular condition or disease, using chiropractic as a complementary care with other styles of health care can promote overall health and well-being
We know that chiropractic treatment holds an extremely small risk to clients. However, the benefits many times outweigh the risks. Chiropractic care is one of the safest and least invasive types of healthcare offered as an alternative to typical medical care and treatments. For more information, call our office today to see how chiropractic can help you get rid of your pain.
